On October 2020, the Akamai Technical Enablement and Education (TE&E) Team — responsible for creating product-training certifications for employees (Global Services and Support [GSS]), customers (Akamai University), and channel partners (Advanced Partner Enablement) — won its second industry award for program design, functionality, and impact.

Chief Learning Officer Magazine describes its awards program by saying:

“Since 2003, the Learning in Practice Awards have recognized learning leaders who demonstrate excellence in the design and delivery of workforce learning and development programs. They do so through a combination of qualities including leadership, vision, business acumen and strategic alignment.

Awards were given in two broad categories: those for practitioner and those for provider. Practitioner awards are split into two divisions: Division 1 for organizations with 10,000 employees or more, and Division 2 for organizations with less than 10,000 employees.”

Akamai’s Involvement

Chief Learning Officer Magazine awarded Akamai’s TE&E team and GSS organization a gold medal in the Business Impact’ category for their Technical Mastery program. Among four other nominees, TE&E took top billing in the category and division.

Technical Mastery is GSS’s technical-product certification program, ensuring that GSS solutions architects, engagement managers, technical project managers, technical support engineers, and others are knowledgeable, and proficient in a  hands-on manner with the products and solutions sold by Akamai. Each technical-product certification is designed with input from subject matter experts from the various GSS organizations to ensure the thoroughness of each training program and certification, as well as credibility to the field. The Technical Mastery program also builds proficient and credible instructors for Akamai’s “for pay” customer enablement program: Akamai University.
