GhangorCloud Extends AI Platform to Automate Compliance

GhangorCloud has made available a Compliance and Privacy Enforcement (CAPE) platform based on an eDiscovery engine infused with deep learning algorithms that automates data discovery, data classification, data mapping and compliance enforcement in real-time.

GhangorCloud CEO and CTO Tarique Mustafa said the GhangorCloud eDiscovery Engine identifies and classifies content automatically, generates privacy enforcement policies and provides real-time enforcement of privacy mandates with no manual intervention required.

The CAPE platform leverages deep learning algorithms developed by GhangorCloud to define and discover any kind of structured, unstructured, semi-structured, ordered or unordered sets of data. Data sequences can then be modeled and automatically identified and classified, he added. It also provides an automatic identification of components with cross-modality, cross-type, composite structured and unstructured, embedded or independent canonical data types.

The auto-classification engine is also integrated with data object ontologies to automatically classify sensitive information down to specific words or phrases in a way that eliminates the need to rely on manual tagging, noted Mustafa.

CAPE also incorporates a data mapping engine that automatically creates a persistent universal data map (UDM) for the data/information objects to simplify the navigation of large storage systems. The UDM created by the data mapping engine is used by the privacy enforcement workflow engine embedded in CAPE to automatically generate the data subject request (DSR) and data subject access request (DSAR) service workflow.

The privacy request enforcement engine then uses the UDM and an actor repository map (ARM) to correlate custodians of data repositories to specific sets of repositories that an individual is authorized to access. The workflow engine is equipped with a built-in mechanism to monitor and report the status of the DSAR or DSR fulfillment process and raise alerts, alarms or other notifications as appropriate.

CAPE is an extension of the same core technologies that GhangorCloud created to apply deep learning algorithms to data loss prevention (DLP). The CAPE platform makes it simpler to enforce compliance policies across a wide range of mandates using an AI engine that eliminates many of the tedious tasks that often prevent organizations from maintaining compliance with mandates ranging from the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) to the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) enacted by the European Union.

The challenge most organizations face today is the amount of data that policies need to be applied to exceeds their ability to enforce and maintain. Without some type of platform for automatically enforcing policies, it’s all but impossible for most organizations to always be in compliance with every regulation that might apply as data is created, moved and copied across the organization.

Of course, automatically applying policies also provides the additional benefit of improving security posture. Compliance is not a substitute for security, but it does tend to create a baseline for implementing policies intended to secure data. Right now, however, the controls that legislators expect organizations to be able to implement and maintain generally exceed IT and security operations teams’ abilities to achieve it.
