Continuous Intelligence Driver for Cyber Success
As malicious cyberattacks and data breaches continue to rise, many organizations are finding it more and more difficult to keep up with the evolving threat landscape—a realization that is forcing IT and SOC teams to take a more proactive stance against attacks. Continuous intelligence can become the foundation of actionable, real-time insights to combat emerging threats.
A recent report from King Brown Partners exemplifies the growing importance of continuous intelligence coupled with real-time analytics to equip security professionals with the tools to take action before a threat can manifest itself and cause irreparable harm.
The report, which was commissioned by Sumo Logic and publicly presented at Data Summit Connect, a virtual event focusing on data management and analytics, revealed that IT security professionals are struggling to keep up and properly process, investigate and mitigate security alerts, leaving themselves completely vulnerable.
The global report included the insights from 765 professionals with cloud-migration leadership responsibilities. Some of the key findings include:
- Eighty-eight percent of C-suite executives believe their company will benefit from continuous intelligence.
- Seventy-four percent believe continuous intelligence will help drive companies’ speed and agility.
- Seventy-six percent are likely to employ continuous intelligence within the next 12 months.
- Sixty-two percent believe continuous intelligence is a new approach to data that many companies will need to embrace as they become more software-driven to drive revenue.
According to the report, businesses using a software-driven model are better equipped to deal with an ever-changing business landscape. The most successful businesses will recognize the power of transforming enormous volumes of data generated by digital operations into real-time insights. Embracing the ability to analyze in real-time, all the time, across multiple functional disciplines, lies at the heart of continuous intelligence.
“The COVID-19 pandemic has caused a business discontinuity in which digital transformation has gone from evolution to explosion overnight–doubling, tripling and quadrupling cloud application and infrastructure workloads,” said Bruno Kurtic, founding VP of strategy and solutions at Sumo Logic. “As these digital businesses and services scale to meet demand, the need to effectively monitor, troubleshoot and secure these services has never been more dependent on the need to collect, index and analyze all data in real-time to speed response, improve services and remain agile under these conditions to drive better outcomes.”

Research giant Gartner, which coined the term “continuous intelligence,” claims that organizations have long sought real-time intelligence and that it is now finally practical to implement these continuous intelligence systems on a much broader scale. Gartner offers that by 2022, more than half of major new business systems will incorporate continuous intelligence that uses real-time context data to improve decisions.
