Q&A Series with RSAC Ambassador: John Strand
Meet RSAC Ambassador, John Strand!
John is the owner of Black Hills Information Security and a speaker at RSA Conference 2019. We reached out to John to ask him a few questions as a past RSAC attendee, so read on for his thoughts on what to do at RSAC, and who and what you can’t miss:
How many times have you attended RSAC?
This will be my sixth.Â
What is the topic of your session?
Both of my presentations are on network hunt teaming. It is a topic we see as more and more important as most of our customers lack the ability to properly identify basic malware command and control traffic.Â
What skills/info will those who attend your session walk away with?
A much better understanding of the challenges and solutions around detecting malware command and control traffic without using signatures.Â
What is the #1 reason you attend RSAC?
The people and the vendors. Everyone is here.Â
What’s your favorite party to attend the week of RSAC?
Wherever my friends and I meet. Usually small out of the way Thai restaurants.Â
Outside of sessions and the expo, which program is a must-attend for you?
The hands-on sessions at in the Sandbox area. I love getting my hands dirty and doing stuff!
