Bringing Browser Detection and Response (BDR) to Australia
SquareX @ AISA Melbourne CyberCon 2024

From November 26–28, SquareX made its Australian debut at the AISA Melbourne CyberCon, part of the Australian Cyber Conference, held at the Melbourne Exhibition and Convention Centre (MCEC). As one of the most anticipated cybersecurity events in Australia, the conference brought together top experts and business leaders to exchange insights, share best practices, and showcase innovative technologies.

SquareX was proud to be part of this prestigious conference. Arriving in Melbourne, our team was set to engage with the cybersecurity community, introduce attendees to our industry-first Browser Detection and Response (BDR) solution, and true to SquareX tradition, distribute crowd-pleasing swag, including limited-edition stickers and our comic book, Hackers: Superheroes of the Digital Age.

A Primer on SquareX BDR
For those unfamiliar, SquareX’s industry-first Browser Detection and Response (BDR) solution that detects, mitigates and threat-hunts client-side web attacks targeting employees in real time. Deployed as a lightweight browser extension, its three main components include:
- Web Threat Detection & Mitigation including malicious files, malicious sites, malicious extensions and identity attacks
- Browser DLP including GenAI DLP, clipboard DLP, file DLP and insider attacks
- Private App Access to provide secure access to web applications and private apps via the browser, including for BYOD/unmanaged devices

The Event Experience
The energy at the event was electric. Attendees from a variety of industries — from government agencies to startups — were eager to learn about the necessity of browser-native security solutions. The level of interest and engagement around SquareX’s BDR solution validated both our thesis and our mission to redefine enterprise security.

Our booth was a hub of activity, with visitors particularly drawn to our comic books, which flew off the shelves. By the second day, we were nearly out of stock!
Beyond the buzz at our booth and the excitement of sharing our solution, AISA Melbourne CyberCon was also a wonderful opportunity for team SquareX to reconnect with old friends and forge new relationships in the cybersecurity community. From past collaborators to industry peers, it was great to have meaningful conversations face-to-face.

Sharing “The Silver Bullet”
A standout moment of the event was our Chief Architect, Jeswin Mathai, delivering his talk, The Silver Bullet in Your Enterprise Defense Strategy: Browser Security Solutions. Speaking at the Knowledge Sharing Zone, Jeswin captivated the audience with his insights into the vulnerabilities of enterprise browsers and the evolving threat landscape.

The talk covered how current security solutions, including Endpoint Security and Secure Web Gateways (SWGs), often fall short in detecting sophisticated browser-based threats, and that the answer lies in in a having a browser-native solution that not only identifies attacks within the browser but also mitigates them in real-time.

Through live demonstrations and case studies, Jeswin illustrated how SquareX’s BDR solution empowers enterprises, particularly SMEs and nonprofits, to strengthen their cyber resilience — at a scalable, cost-effective manner.
Our Thoughts
After exhibiting in the USA and Singapore, it was a privilege to showcase our solution in Australia, especially at an event as impactful as AISA Melbourne CyberCon. Not only did we enjoy meeting all who visited Booth 42, we were also grateful to have forged new connections and hear questions and insights from attendees.

AISA Melbourne CyberCon is SquareX’s last event of 2024. In the coming year, we look forward to bringing our solutions to more corners of the world. Till next time!
