SquareX at Hacker Summer Camp: Black Hat USA 2024 Day 1
Behind the scenes at one of the world’s largest cybersecurity conferences
The Black Hat USA and DEF CON conferences, both held annually in Las Vegas, are collectively known as “Hacker Summer Camp.” This cybersecurity extravaganza attracts tens of thousands of infosec professionals, cybersecurity executives and hackers around the globe, all converging to see the latest the field has to offer.
Team SquareX is currently at Black Hat USA 2024 from August 7–8 — we’re showcasing our browser-native security solution, designed to detect, mitigate, and hunt down web attacks in real-time.
We’ve a host of booth activities where visitors can look forward to live demos, learning how SquareX works, meeting our team, grabbing swag like our comic Hackers: Superheroes of the Digital Age and stickers, and even participating in a lucky draw.
Here’s some behind-the-scenes of our first day!
Getting ready before the big day
Before the start of Black Hat USA 2024, our team arrived at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center to set things up. We only got a sense of event’s scale when we reached the venue; it was easy to get lost in the sprawling exhibit area!
Meanwhile, our founder, Vivek Ramachandran, also took part in an interview with CyberRiskTV on how Secure Web Gateways Have Failed Us, where he discussed browser security and how SquareX is leading the charge in protecting enterprise users against web attacks.
Black Hat USA Begins
And before we knew it, Day 1 officially started with crowds streaming in at 9 AM! The day was intense but exhilarating, filled with numerous engaging interactions and activities.
The team had great conversations at the booth with visitors from various backgrounds, ranging from cybersecurity beginners to representatives from government agencies. We’re also proud to say our solution was well-received, with many participants coming away from our demos impressed and recognizing the importance of a browser-native security solution.
We also had the pleasure of having multiple interviews with respected podcasters. Our founder Vivek, was on air with Sean and Marco of ITSPmagazine Podcasts, providing a sneak peek into our upcoming talk at the DEF CON main stage titled Breaking Secure Web Gateways (SWG) for Fun and Profit. Our Principal Software Engineer Shourya also spoke to Tom Eston of the Shared Security Podcast about the intricacies of browser security, web proxies, and the latest advancements at SquareX.
