DataDome Releases Tyk Server-Side Integration

DataDome’s mission is to protect our customers against threats and online fraud on any infrastructure. In response to customer demand, we are thrilled to introduce Tyk API Gateway to our roster of supported integrations.

Tyk, an API gateway available for on-premise or cloud hosting (including a managed and SaaS version) has been recognized as a leader in Gartner’s 2023 Magic Quadrant for API Management.

API gateways help centralize API management within organizations, and should be protected against malicious traffic. Bots can easily adapt and find vulnerabilities in your mobile applications and/or APIs if you only protect your website against online threats. Therefore, you should always protect your website, mobile app, and APIs.

The Tyk server-side integration joins our existing API gateway integrations, such as Google Cloud Apigee and Kong. At DataDome, we have observed a trend of our customers utilizing API gateways, which is the driving force behind our expanding support for a variety of API Gateways.

The openness of Tyk makes integration a breeze. Leveraging our expertise, we crafted a plugin in Go—the same technology that powers Tyk—ensuring optimal performance. We support both open-source and enterprise versions, available on-premise, in the cloud, or as a SaaS solution.

Setup Overview

Setting up this integration is a straightforward process, detailed in our Tyk integration technical documentation. Here’s a simplified overview of the steps:

1. Download the DataDome plugin source code.
2. Compile it with the version of Tyk you are using.
3. Deploy the plugin to your environment and configure it as a middleware.
4. Set up the configuration (only the DataDome server side key is mandatory) and restart the Tyk service.

Congrats, you are now protected and can see your real-time traffic in the DataDome dashboard!
