IT Managers Want Better VSaaS and ACaaS Solutions, Survey Shows

Physical security systems across Europe are not properly optimized and some of them need improvements in 2020, according to a survey of 1,000 IT decision-makers.

Security in a company is multi-faceted, and it’s not just about using the right endpoint detections tools or a good firewall. Key tools that fit in the protection scheme also include physical security systems. In most cases, IT managers use cloud-based video surveillance (VSaaS) or access control (ACaaS) solutions.

The problem with physical security systems is the same as any other electronic component; they need to be upgraded, and they have to keep up with the rest of the hardware. The survey found that 77% of the IT decision-makers, at least in Europe, don’t feel physical security systems are optimized.

Moreover, 33% of respondents say physical security systems need upgrading as soon as possible, and they have designated this task as a priority for 2020.

“The IT manager, who might ordinarily turn to his/her provider of IT infrastructure to provision additional services, should also consider physical security installers who have proven expertise in this field and an understanding of the intelligence capabilities of these systems,” according to the survey.

Even among the IT managers who are still not using an integrated cloud solution such as VSaaS and ACaaS, 79% anticipate adopting them within 12 months. All in all, 84% of the IT managers are now seriously considering using cloud-based video surveillance or access control.

Physical security systems are slowly being integrated into cybersecurity across the industry, and the survey shows that employing an overarching solution is the way to go.
