January 15th and 16th saw the PCI Pal team attend the Civica Exchange 2019 event in Manchester at the impressive Hilton Deansgate.
Civica Exchange is one of the highlights in the public-sector calendar and the annual event is an opportunity for local government organisations to hear from experts and peers about the challenges facing the sector, but also to focus on some of the innovation.
PCI Pal has a longstanding partnership with Civica and attend each year to gain insight and help influence the changing landscape of local government in terms of how they engage and transact with their customers. This year, our attendance was all the more important; in a recent survey on 2,002 UK consumers carried out by PCI Pal, findings showed that Government fell into the top five sectors believed to be least secure when it came to data security.
This year’s theme was all around transformation through the use and adoption of technology. The Public Sector has suffered in recent years with budgetary constraints and the key focus going forward is all round working smarter and spending less whilst continuing to meet delivery and customer service targets.
Digital disruption – moving to the cloud and utilising technology to drive efficiencies was a hot topic and Artificial Intelligence (AI) were the words on everyone’s lips. These technology trends are going to alter our way of living over the next few years and AI has the potential to change the world as we know it, in a far shorter and more disruptive way than the impact of the internet in the early 90’s.
Civica Exchange 2019 showed us that, though public sector organisations still tend to be cautious, gradually this is changing, and employees are starting to challenge processes and question previous decision making.
Customer experience is moving up the agenda within Public Sector organisations and its more important than ever to give them choice in how they communicate and transact. PCI Pal continue to provide a key function here and work with Civica to offer a future proof payment solution that focuses on CX whilst delivering, and complying, in this rapidly changing sector.
