DataDome Releases Google Cloud Platform Server-Side Integration

The post DataDome Releases Google Cloud Platform Server-Side Integration appeared first on Blog – Datadome.

DataDome’s mission is to protect our customers against threats and online fraud on any infrastructure. In response to customer demand, we are thrilled to add Google Cloud Platform to our supported server-side integrations.

We have been partnering with Google Cloud for several years. DataDome is now on Google Cloud Marketplace, and our integration has already been mentioned in Google Cloud’s blog!

A DataDome integration at the Google Cloud Load Balancer level was highly requested from our customers to ease our set up and block the bots at the edge. We worked very closely with the Google Engineering team to make it happen.

Integrated Protection In Real Time

A few months ago, Google released a new way to add business & security logic at the Load Balancer Level. This new product is called Google Service Extensions. There are several ways to integrate it, but DataDome needs to call an external API for each request to validate whether it is legitimate or fraudulent.

Google Services extensions allow us to analyze in real time any requests received by Google Load Balancer. In our case and to ease the set up, we run DataDome Integration inside a Docker Container on Google Cloud Run.

Google Cloud Run will scale automatically depending on the traffic received from your Load Balancer in a couple of seconds.

How Google Cloud integrates with DataDome

The Google Cloud Service Extension integration continues to expand our list of CDN & edge integrations already available:

Setup Overview

Setting up this integration is a straightforward process, detailed in our Google Service Extensions documentation.

Here’s a simplified overview of the steps:

  • Set up a Google Cloud Run Service which will run the DataDome integration
  • Configure a backend service to be able to connect from the Load Balancer to the new Google Cloud Run Service
  • Configure a service extension on the Load Balancer of the website, application or API you would like to protect

Congrats, you are now protected and can see your real-time traffic in the DataDome dashboard!

Supporting Every Platform Possible

The new Google Cloud Service Extension integration is the latest in a range of DataDome integrations, as we continue to expand our supported platforms. With more than 25 server-side integrations available today, 50+ total integrations, and more to come, DataDome stops bad bots and online fraud on any infrastructure—big or small.
