Generative AI on a Larger Canvas: Armorblox Joins Cisco to Bring Gen AI to Cisco Security
In 2017, Armorblox set out to revolutionize the cybersecurity industry by leveraging the power of AI and natural language understanding (NLU) to protect organizations from the growing threat of Business Email Compromise (BEC) and other email-based attacks. At this point in time, email security relied on DMARC and Secure Email Gateways (SEG), only analyzing email in binary and deterministic ways. Bad actors were, and still are, able to bypass these systems by using one tool that is essentially free to generate and at everyone’s disposal: *language*.
Our team pioneered the use of Natural Language Understanding, deep learning, and GPT-like models to detect malicious intent in communications. Our groundbreaking work in harnessing Generative AI and predictive capabilities has provided a shield of protection to enterprise users. Throughout our journey, we have strived to push the boundaries of cybersecurity, constantly innovating. This included expanding our capabilities to support Data Loss Prevention, protection against email account compromise and vendor email compromise, automatic remediation of user-reported threats, and more.
Fast forward to today, and I couldn’t be prouder of the tremendous strides we have made, both in advancing the use of this technology and supporting 58,000+ organizations, from Fortune 100 companies to small and medium-sized enterprises. The world is finally realizing the vast potential of AI-driven solutions, not just within cybersecurity but in almost all areas of our lives.
Today, I’m thrilled to announce that we’ve reached another momentous milestone in our pursuit of cybersecurity excellence. Cisco has acquired Armorblox to further its plans for an AI-first Security Cloud—one that delivers intelligent, adaptive, and automated security capabilities and utilizes generative AI to make users more productive, products more efficient, and operations simpler.
By joining Cisco, we’re excited to open up a whole new universe of possibilities for expanding our use of AI. Joining Cisco means gaining access to unrivaled resources and expertise, and a vast customer base. This acquisition signifies a monumental collaboration that will catapult the development and deployment of Generative AI and AI-driven security capabilities into warp speed. By integrating our trained LLMs with the Cisco Security Cloud, we aim to revolutionize how organizations engage with their security control points.
