ARMO named in Gartner® Cool Vendors™
We are excited and honored to announce that we were recognized as a Cool Vendor in the Gartner Cool Vendors in Platform Engineering for Scaling Application Security Practices (July 2023) report*!
What is a Gartner Cool Vendor?
Gartner Cool Vendor is an annual recognition given by Gartner, a leading research and advisory firm, to innovative and emerging technology vendors. It highlights companies that offer unique and disruptive products or services, demonstrating the potential to address new markets, introduce innovative technologies, or challenge industry norms. Only Gartner analysts can nominate the vendors (vendors can’t nominate themselves).

The selection criteria
The vendor must be considered innovative or transformative for products, services, or initiatives. The criteria by which a vendor is defined as “cool” are:
- Innovative – the vendor has developed technologies/products that enable users to do things they couldn’t do before
- Impactful – the vendor offers technologies/products that have or will have a business impact; it’s not just “technology for the sake of technology”
- Intriguing – the vendor has caught Gartner’s interest/curiosity during the past 12 months
What makes ARMO cool?
When it comes to securing Kubernetes deployments, there is often a trade-off between using a collection of open-source tools or investing in a proprietary platform. ARMO is building an open-source based Kubernetes security tool differently.
ARMO led the development of Kubescape, an open-source end-to-end Kubernetes security platform, which was accepted as Cloud-Native Computing Foundation (CNCF) Sandbox project. As the lead maintainer of the project, ARMO guides its roadmap and is actively building a community around it. ARMO’s belief is that just as Kubernetes is open source, its security should be too.
ARMO platform is built on top of Kubescape and offers enterprise-grade features. It empowers DevOps and platform engineers with three key capabilities:
- Allows them to identify and remediate misconfigurations by scanning Kubernetes manifest files, API servers, worker nodes, and workloads. Integration with popular DevOps and CI/CD tools enables seamless security integration into their workflows.
- With the largest library of out of the box security controls, ARMO enables compliance with well-known security frameworks. Organizations can benchmark against security standards such as those from the Center for Internet Security (CIS), Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Agency (CISA), MITRE. They can also add their own specific policies.
- The platform provides vulnerability scanning and remediation for container images throughout their lifecycle, including container registries. Leveraging eBPF, ARMO prioritizes the remediation of relevant vulnerabilities by scanning Kubernetes pods and filtering vulnerabilities based on the packages in use. Thus, guiding users towards making a real impact on security posture.
