Getting to Know an NCSA Champion: Imperva

As a cybersecurity industry leader, it is both our responsibility and our pleasure to work with the National Cyber Security Alliance (NCSA) and the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Agency (CISA) of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security as a 2021 Cybersecurity Awareness Month Champion and to join the growing global effort to promote awareness of online safety and privacy. This month, we will help spread the word to “Do Your Part. #BeCyberSmart.”

Since the Presidential proclamation establishing Cybersecurity Awareness Month in the United States in 2004, the initiative has been formally recognized by the public sector and leaders from industry and academia in the United States, Canada, and more than 50 countries in the EU and Asia/Pacific region. This united worldwide effort is necessary to maintain a cyberspace that is safer, more resilient, and that will remain a source of tremendous opportunity and growth for many years to come.

As a cybersecurity leader, participating in Cybersecurity Awareness Month is an extension of Imperva’s mission to protect data and all paths to it by helping secure customers from cyber attacks through all stages of their digital journey.

This year, Cybersecurity Awareness Month’s weekly focus areas will center on:

  • Understanding and implementing basic cyber hygiene, including the promotion of strong passphrases, using multi-factor authentication, performing software updates and backing up data.
  • Recognizing and reporting phishing attempts whether it’s through email, text messages, or via chat boxes.
  • Empowering individuals to not only practice safe online behavior, but also to consider joining the mission of securing our online world by contemplating a career in cybersecurity!
  • Making cybersecurity a priority in business by making products and processes “secure by design”, and considering cybersecurity when purchasing new internet-connected devices.

If everyone plays their part – implementing stronger security practices, raising community awareness, educating vulnerable audiences or training employees – our interconnected world will be safer and more resilient for everyone.

Imperva is observing Cybersecurity Awareness Month 2021 with a social media campaign and a series of blog posts designed to raise awareness around cybersecurity challenges—such as API security, data privacy, bot management, protecting the software supply chain and implementing security into the software development lifecycle—to help individuals and enterprises be more cyber secure.

Watch this space – and Imperva’s LinkedIn, Facebook, and Twitter pages – all month to learn how everyone can become more cyber savvy and can avoid participating in unsound cyber practices with dire consequences for individuals and enterprises alike.
