Pride Month: Creating a Fair and Equal World, Online and Offline

In the United States, we celebrate LGBTQ+ Pride Month every June, reminding us of the importance of fair and equal opportunities for everyone without discrimination or bias. Arkose Labs supports equality for all, regardless of sexual orientation, race, ethnicity, nationality, disability, and more, both online and offline.

LGBTQ+ Pride Month is celebrated in the United States during the month of June and commemorates the Stonewall Riots of June 1969. The month celebrates the LGBTQ+ community and advocates for equality in all aspects of life. The community organizes a multitude of events throughout the month to celebrate the advancements of the community while reminding us all how much more work there is to do.

It’s been – and continues to be – a long and hard-fought battle against discrimination for the LGBTQ+ community, which faces persecution and inequalities even in 2021. When did this fight for equality really start to gain momentum?

Celebrating Pride Month, then and now

The first Pride March in New York took place on the first anniversary of the Stonewall Riots on June 27, 1970, which was a pivotal moment for the community as it drew awareness and gained support via large-scale public marches and protests. Over the next few years, organizers brought the march to multiple other cities across the USA and it has now spread across the world.

The efforts of global LGBTQ+ activists around the world have made significant strides to increase awareness to the point where we’re seeing countries enact more progressive policies. Companies across the globe are also celebrating Pride Month in exciting ways, including recognizing their LGBTQ+ colleagues, celebrating in parades, taking public stances against LGBTQ+ prejudices, and making charitable donations to organizations that support the community.

At Arkose Labs, we celebrated Pride at a virtual summer happy hour with some of our prospects and customers. We partnered with mission-driven ONEHOPE Wine for the event for some wine education. ONEHOPE also donated portions of the proceeds from their Rainbow Label sparkling wine to The Trevor Project, an organization that saves lives by providing crisis intervention and suicide prevention services to the LGBTQ+ community. Arkose Labs created a charitable contribution matching program for the month of June, encouraging employees to donate to the Trevor Project as well.

Creating a fair and equal world, online and offline

When celebrating Pride Month, I frequently reflect on the underlying motivations that cause discrimination in the LGBTQ+ community in the first place. Most often, these injustices stem from deep-rooted ignorance, antiquated legislature, religious beliefs, or a general discomfort around the unknown or unfamiliar. Finding novel ways to dismantle harmful stances or beliefs are vital components of the LGBTQ+ equality movement.

Like the civil rights activists fighting for the rights of the LGBTQ+ community, Arkose Labs takes a novel approach in fighting to protect consumers and businesses from fraudsters. We strive to eliminate negative forces on the internet that can cause disruption to the digital journeys of consumers by determining and undermining the motivations of bad actors like fraudsters, which in many cases are financial when it comes to fraud.

To accomplish this, Arkose Labs is collaborating with the industry to ensure everyone has the right to safe access to the internet – where businesses and legitimate consumers can conduct business in a fair environment without the threat of fraud.

Arkose Labs adopts a zero tolerance to fraud approach and uses friction smartly to bankrupt the business model of fraud, enabling unhindered access to digital services for every authentic user. At Arkose Labs, we are committed to helping create a fair and equal world, both in the offline and online realms, without discrimination or bias in any form. We strongly believe in equal opportunities for everyone, whether it is the LGBTQ+ community, digital businesses, or consumers.
