New Report: IAM for the Hybrid Enterprise

Today we published a new study* conducted by Forrester Consulting on behalf of ForgeRock and our friends at Google Cloud on the state of identity and access management (IAM) in the cloud. It’s a terrific read, and I encourage you to check it out.

We introduce an emerging concept called “Hybrid IAM,” which we think is the next phase of digital identity. Simply put, Hybrid IAM enables enterprises to run, unify, and secure all digital identities with a single platform in a hybrid IT environment. We recognize that, while many customers prefer cloud-only approaches if feasible, the reality is a comprehensive strategy involves IAM across cloud, on-premises, and hybrid IT environments. This is a big opportunity for organizations to tackle, and as the only IAM platform on the market that can do this, ForgeRock is very well positioned to help.

IAM for the Hybrid Enterprise

The focus of the study is a global survey of more than 300 IT leaders who are involved in IAM decisions and hybrid cloud migration efforts. Here are the key findings:

More than 80% will have adopted or plan to adopt/expand their cloud-based IAM initiatives over the next two years
Nearly 90% of respondents are held back from embracing IAM in the cloud because of technical challenges: their current solutions lack the required scale, stability, and capabilities
More than 80% believe a hybrid IAM approach would provide great customer and employee experiences
