Build a Strong Foundation for Enterprise Workloads on IBM Cloud with Delphix

Data plays an important role as organizations modernize their applications, automate CI/CD processes, and migrate workloads to the cloud. Most enterprise transformation programs demand data-ready environments for test infrastructure that enables fast developer feedback. Without fast access to data, organizations experience low productivity, slow project delivery, and costly budgets.

Today, we are excited to announce we are available on the IBM Cloud as of our 6.0.5 release, bringing programmable data (or API-driven data automation) to application development environments in the following ways:

1. Establishing a Hybrid Cloud Model

Moving application development to the cloud is often the first step in the cloud journey. With flexibility gained in the cloud, DevOps teams are able to re-architect legacy app dev processes as well as address data security concerns that may hinder wide-scale cloud adoption. Delphix’s virtual databases used for non-production environments in the cloud are fully synchronized with production data sources on-premise.

2. Streamline Mission-Critical Migrations to the Cloud

Migrating production workloads to the cloud requires extensive dev, test, and rehearsals prior to the final cutover. Delphix creates secure virtual clones of production data that are lightweight and portable—a significant advantage when preparing mission-critical workloads for the cloud.

Earlier this year, analysts at IDC conducted research exploring the value and benefits of using Delphix at large enterprises. On average, companies using Delphix’s API-first data platform dramatically cut the time required to move data from on-premises to the cloud from 16 hours to less than 2 hours—a 91% reduction.

Application teams can also practice database migrations over and over with a Delphix virtual database to fine-tune performance parameters, and ensure processes are efficient and predictable.

3. Automated Data Pipeline for CI/CD

Automating DevOps processes improves operational efficiency and repeatability for software delivery processes; it’s the foundation for application modernization in the cloud. Delphix integrates into existing CI/CD toolchains to provide API-driven data delivery and version control for application development.

According to the majority of Delphix users, developers spend less time waiting for data and more time building software because of their ability to create and refresh development environments using the platform, according to the IDC report. With these improvements, companies have seen a considerable reduction in the development cycle by 40%, leaving more time for coding.

4. Security and Compliance in Non-Production Environments

Delphix facilitates rigorous security practices by identifying and masking sensitive data to keep non-production environments compliant with privacy regulations such as the GDPR and CCPA. Anonymizing data eliminates the attack surface for data in non-production environments, and Delphix irreversibly masks data prior to distribution into test environments.

Delphix masks prior to distribution to test environments leveraging IBM Cloud Object Storage, ensuring PII data never leaves the production network. Our partnership with IBM also includes masking for DB2 and other select databases provided by the IBM Cloud Managed Database service.

Delphix is now available in the IBM Cloud Catalog. If you’re a Delphix customer, you can use your existing Delphix license when purchasing IBM Cloud resources through the catalog. See the details on Delphix virtualization here and masking here.
