Tech Rules. Let’s Celebrate – TechStrong Con

Celebrating the critical role technology plays in helping us all get through this pandemic and beyond

On March 17, I was supposed to be marching up Fifth Avenue in the annual New York City St. Patrick’s Day. Instead, I was busily printing out lesson plans for my son’s new school-at-home regime. In between my usual work-from-home routine, the forced closure of pretty much everything due to COVID-19 meant I was now tasked with the added responsibilities of being teacher, homework attendant, recess monitor, lunch lady and after-school activities coordinator, to name a few.

All I can say is, Thank God for technology.

If not for Zoom, Google Hangouts, YouTube, Google Docs, Apple TV and a host of other technologies, I would not have been able to juggle the multiple responsibilities thrust upon me because of the pandemic. And I’m sure countless other parents feel the exact same way I do.

Even 10 or so weeks into this remote work regime, with my son’s school year now complete, I rely on technology perhaps even more to get through the day with a sense of productivity, accomplishment and, yes, sanity. Suffice to say his two-hour screen time limit went out the window weeks ago. He’s now a Roblox master and this summer plans to take courses to monetize his Roblox expertise.

He’s 10 years old.

My long-winded point here is that technology has been the shelter from the pandemic storm, helping me stay on point work-wise and get my family through the day. Indeed, for just about everyone, technology has served as more than just a tool for productivity—it’s a lifeline to connect with friends and loved ones, a resource for critical information and a means to achieve some semblance of normalcy during a time when things are anything but normal. Without technology, I would not be able to do my job effectively, communicate with my coworkers, order necessary supplies (toilet paper, anyone?) or help my son learn fractions.

Recognizing the critical role technology plays in getting us through life—not just the COVID-19 pandemic—MediaOps is hosting TechStrong Con, a virtual summit dedicated to and celebrating all things tech. The 12-hour event happening June 4 features a whole host of technology-related topics designed to highlight the many varied aspects of technology, from the hardware and applications to processes and even business of tech. The three consecutive tracks—Emerging Technologies, Security/DevSecOps and Digital Transformation—are chock-full of presentations that will engage, inspire and educate, from some of the industry’s brightest minds and fast-moving innovators from companies including AWS, Red Hat, Microsoft, KPMG, FedEx and so many more.

There will be raffles, also, with some really nifty prizes:

  • An Xbox One X 1TB Console – Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order Bundle
  • One set of Bose 700 Noise Cancelling Wireless Bluetooth Headphones
  • One pair of Apple AirPods Pro (which I can attest are awesome)
  • 10 Amazon gift cards valued at $50 each

In a very crowded field of virtual events, TechStrong Con is not to be missed. So come join us as we celebrate the best of what technology is and does, and what it will continue to do as we navigate this new way of living and working.

We are stronger than this pandemic, and we will make it through. We are #techstrong.
