Bricata Included as a Representative Vendor in the Inaugural Market Guide for Network Traffic Analysis by Gartner, Inc.

Research Firm Analyzed NTA Vendors to be Considered by Security and
Risk Management Leaders

March 14, 2019 – Columbia, Md. – Bricata, Inc., today announced it had been named as a representative vendor in a new report titled, “Market Guide for Network Traffic Analysis” published in February 2019, by the research firm, Gartner Inc. Network traffic analysis (NTA) solutions analyze network traffic to model normal network behavior and alert enterprise security teams when abnormal traffic patterns are identified. NTA is important because it helps detect threats other security tools may not see.

“Applying behavioral analysis to network traffic is helping enterprises detect suspicious traffic that other security tools are missing,” wrote Gartner analysts Lawrence Orans, Jeremy D’Hoinne, and Sanjit Ganguli, in the report. “Security and risk management leaders should implement behavioral-based network traffic analysis tools to complement signature-based detection solutions.”

“In addition to monitoring north/south traffic that crosses the enterprise perimeter, NTA solutions can also monitor east/west communications by analyzing network traffic or flow records that it receives from strategically placed sensors,” according to the report.

Bricata believes that NTA is an important part of the full-spectrum threat detection capabilities enterprises need in their security portfolios to ensure comprehensive network protection. To address that need, the Bricata solution employs multiple threat detection techniques concurrently. These techniques are stateful anomaly detection, signature detection and artificial intelligence-based malware conviction. Bricata has integrated all of these techniques on a single platform, and as a result, the solution optimizes threat detection and minimizes false positives.

“We think this inaugural guide speaks volumes to the how the emerging NTA technology category can fill a widening gap that will otherwise increase the risk of compromise to an enterprise network,” said Bricata CEO John Trauth. “We are extremely pleased to be recognized as a representative vendor and will continue to look for ways our customers can capitalize on NTA capabilities to strengthen their overall security posture.”

For all its efforts Bricata has increasingly earned recognition. For example, last fall Bricata was selected as one of the inaugural NVTC Tech 100 companies, which recognized businesses and business leaders who are driving technology innovation in the Greater Washington metropolitan region. In addition, the security trade publication CSO Online named Bricata to its list of best security software solutions based on an independent review of the product
