Windows Community Toolkit 8.2 Introduces Native AOT Compilation Support

Windows Community Toolkit 8.2 Features

Microsoft released version 8.2 of the Windows Community Toolkit in April 2025. This release includes updated dependencies, .NET 9 support for UWP applications, and Native AOT compilation support. The toolkit is a collection of controls and libraries aimed at enhancing the capabilities available to Windows developers.

The latest dependencies are updated to Windows App SDK 1.6, previously 1.5, and Uno Platform 5.5, which was 5.2 in the past version. The minimum Windows target framework moniker has been downgraded to 19041 due to issues experienced with the higher TFM in version 8.1. For more details on target framework monikers, visit Microsoft's documentation.

The toolkit also features a small update for XAML behaviours, now utilizing Microsoft.Xaml.Interactivity instead of Microsoft.Xaml.Interactions.Core. The update ensures compatibility across both older and newer underlying Windows platforms by referencing v3 of the behaviour library.

Native AOT compilation is now supported for all platforms, improving performance as applications are compiled ahead of time. There are still issues being addressed in Native AOT support, and progress can be tracked on GitHub. Additionally, developers targeting UWP can now utilize .NET 9 via a Visual Studio update, although this does not include any enhancements to the UWP framework itself.

Minor fixes in this version feature a DispatchedQueueTimer.Debounce extension method, enhancing event rate-limiting, and support for the AcrylicBrush, which provides a semi-transparent paint material for UI design.

Developers are encouraged to contribute to the Windows Community Toolkit Labs for experimental features that aren’t stable enough for the main repository, such as the automatic DependencyProperty code generator.

Upbit Lists DeepBook Token

Upbit, a leading South Korean crypto exchange, has recently listed DeepBook, the native token of the Sui network-based decentralized finance protocol. DEEP reached a notable local high of $0.18 shortly after the listing, which occurred at 05:30 UTC on April 22. The token is currently available only for trading against the Korean won.

DeepBook serves as an on-chain liquidity aggregator protocol, also referred to as a decentralized central limit order book (CLOB) on the Sui blockchain. The latest upgrade, DeepBook v3.1, launched on April 16, enhancing liquidity pools and reducing fees. For more information on the upgrade, see the DeepBook announcement.

Following the Upbit listing, DEEP surged from $0.92 to $0.183 in under 10 minutes. However, it experienced a selloff soon after, with the current trading price at $0.13 and a market cap around $400 million. The daily trading volume is approximately $232 million.

Similar listings have historically influenced token prices positively within the South Korean crypto market. For instance, Bithumb, another prominent exchange, listed DeepBook on January 8, resulting in a 70% price increase. Previous listings, such as WalletConnect Token (WCT) and SAFE, also exhibited significant rallies following their respective Upbit announcements.

Upbit is recognized as the fourth-leading exchange in the market, with a daily trading volume of $2.2 billion, as reported by CoinMarketCap.
