Cybersecurity for the Public Sector: Partnering with Carahsoft

The public sector is on alert. Cyber breaches occur at an accelerated rate; attackers are getting more intelligent, more sophisticated, and better funded. Government agencies are hypervigilant in their cybersecurity posture response, and the Biden Administration is committed to restoring cybersecurity as a top US priority.

With an estimated $18.78 billion allocated for cybersecurity spending in 2021, eliminating breaches and tightening security is a priority for the government today. But agencies are realizing that the tools they have available, such as perimeter-based security and the traditional firewall approaches, no longer suffice.

To make the most of their resources, organizations need to develop plans with the knowledge that the attackers are already inside the networks. This focus has led to an increased interest in a more sophisticated, nuanced zero-trust security model.

Zero Trust Security Model

The Virsec Security Platform helps provide zero trust throughout the software supply chain and workload operational lifecycle by ensuring application-aware workload protection. Virsec protects organizations from sophisticated remote code execution exploits like that levied against the SolarWinds supply chain, the Hafnium Microsoft Exchange server hack, the recent Colonial Pipeline attackmemory attacks, and other runtime attacks against on-premises, cloud, hybrid, or container-based workloads.

Since we deployed Virsec, we have detected and stopped every nation-state attack including SolarWinds.” Chief Technology Officer, Fortune 100 Tech Company

Strategic Alliance

The federal government was already taking steps towards zero-trust networking to improve overall security, and Virsec is the first solution to extend Zero Trust deep into the workload, guard-railing critical workloads during runtime. That is one reason why Carahsoft has formed a strategic alliance with us to help public sector organizations address the ever-evolving threat environment.

Under the agreement, Carahsoft will make Virsec’s application-aware workload protection solution available through Carahsoft’s NASA Solutions for Enterprise-Wide Procurement (SEWP) V, Information Technology Enterprise Solutions – Software 2 (ITES-SW2), and National Association of State Procurement Officials (NASPO) ValuePoint contracts and the company’s reseller partners.

Our partnership with Carahsoft is highly beneficial to the public sector because it expands the use and deployment of our application-aware workload protection solution in this dynamic marketplace. Together, we will provide our joint customers with differentiated, scalable solutions that provide a multi-layered defense that neutralizes advanced threats. At the same time, Carahsoft can lead the delivery of solutions designed to protect systems, services, and data from today’s most advanced cybersecurity threats.

The public sector can no longer rely on status quo technologies. We look forward to working with Carahsoft to help agencies strengthen their cybersecurity postures with advanced solutions designed to mitigate the most advanced, evasive threats both now and on the horizon. We have a lot of work to do, but we’re stronger together.
