Beware of Phone Phishing

Phone phishing email excerpt

Just because the email (or letter) directs you to a phone number doesn’t mean you aren’t being phished. The nearby image shows part of a recent phishing email. It claims that I ordered a laptop/tablet from Microsoft for delivery to an unfamiliar address in Las Vegas.

I’ve warned readers in other blog posts to always check the From: address on a surprising email. Since I’m not on an iPhone, I can see the email probably isn’t from Microsoft. What about the phone number? That’s what web search engines are for. A quick search of the number 424-216-5858 (on this day in May, 2020) shows numerous complaints of phishing emails.
