SBN From cybersecurity to cancer, we’ve got this!

On the surface, it may seem that cybersecurity and cancer are two unrelated topics. But, just like a CISO facing down a data breach, there is a similar journey for cancer patients starting with prevention and diagnosis to treatment and containment to life afterwards. Cybersecurity is about protecting the health and integrity of an organization’s entire supply chain which largely includes people.

From an employee perspective, this highlights the importance of building strong teams that can support individuals facing difficult personal challenges like cancer. Just ask Moohwa Lee, a Verification Specialist with the Entrust Certificate Services (ECS) team, who recently battled breast cancer. “You always hear about people battling breast cancer, but never think it will happen to you.  When it does it’s not always easy to stay positive but having a great support system helps. I want to extend a huge thank you to my Entrust family – the ECS verification team – for all the love and support. I never felt alone, and it made all of the difference in keeping my spirits up.”

DevOps Experience

Burke Lippert, Director of Sales Operations at Entrust, had a similar experience and is now a strong advocate for others facing this difficult journey. “I am alive and healthy today because of my first mammogram at 40 years old. The diagnosis and immediate treatment plan are why I am five years cancer free. I could not have done it without all the support I received from family, friends, co-workers and even complete strangers. My goal now is to give back and support others on their journey and to just be there to listen and give lots of hugs.”

At Entrust, we like to turn good intentions into action. So, in recognition of breast cancer awareness month, we’re raising awareness and funds, participating in community activities and encouraging our employees to get involved. One such initiative is the Mighty Moo’s Movers team for CIBC’s Run for the Cure on October 3rd, in honor of Moohwa’s personal journey. We welcome you to support Moo’s team and/or participate in your own local community initiatives.

Whether it’s a data breach, cancer diagnosis or other critical event, we are stronger together. We’ve got this!
