Award season is upon us and after a succession of red-carpet events, The Joker was named the most dangerous film of 2019.

‘What’s that got to do with cybersecurity and Clearswift?’, you may ask. Award ceremonies present cyber criminals with the ideal opportunity for social engineering lures that use the ‘hot news of the day’ as a way of harvesting data or spreading malware. A recent article by Forbes explains how threat actors appealed to fans of the Oscars by offering them the opportunity to stream the award-nominated movies for free. Research, carried out by Kaspersky, found that out of 925 malicious files almost one-third were related to The Joker, making it the winner of the Most Dangerous Movie award.

But that’s not really why we are talking awards – in fact, Clearswift has been nominated for an award of its own!

The FStech Awards – 20 years of excellence and innovation

Now in its 20th year, the ‘FStech Awards: Celebrating excellence and innovation within the UK and EMEA financial services sector’ are organized by leading Financial Services (FS) publication, FStech and are regarded as one of the most prestigious awards ceremonies for technology firms serving the sector.

Hundreds of organizations are nominated for the FStech awards, so when the shortlist was recently announced it was hugely gratifying to see Clearswift shortlisted in the Cyber Security Solution of the Year category.

Cybersecurity is, of course, one of the principal issues facing the FS sector, with the on-going threat of malware, ransomware and phishing attacks, not to mention the Insider Threat that’s so prevalent in FS. Recent Clearswift research found that 70% of financial organizations had experienced a cybersecurity-related incident in the past 12 months, so it’s a problem that is on the rise.

Clearswift has a strong record in winning awards for our products and service, but to be recognized for our innovation in combatting this on-going threat is great encouragement. It means that we are on the right path with R&D and delivering the solutions that best keep our customers’ data safe and secure.

Clearswift’s Adaptive Data Loss Prevention (A-DLP) Solution.

The Clearswift A-DLP solution ensures that any sensitive information shared outside of a business is successfully redacted before being uploaded, processed or delivered to a source outside the corporate network. This guarantees that FS firms are protected against phishing campaigns and safeguards their employees against accidentally sharing information that customers or suppliers should not have access to.

It’s a solution that can also protect companies against the Insider Threat. As it acts with information coming in and out of the organization, it inspects information flow within the business, ensuring that sensitive data is not shared with employees without the necessary access authority.

We are proud of the work that we do with organizations in FS and genuinely delighted to be shortlisted for such an important award.

The FStech Awards take place on 19 March 2020, at the London Marriott Hotel, Grosvenor Square, or to find out more about our solutions – for FS and other sectors – please click here.
