Last week, a number of nCipher employees attended the 2019 Black Hat USA conference. The booth, which saw around 1,000 visitors, was home to a mix of activity.

nCipher, along with Entrust Datacard, Keyfactor, AppViewX, F5 Networks, Venafi, and Prime Factors, facilitated a passport program wherein attendees who procured stamps from partners were entered into a prize draw for an inboard M1TM Electric Skateboard. The Australian Embassy’s David Warren (or more accurately, his son!) was the delighted winner of the raffle.

The booth was also home to 10 partner booth presentations delivered over two days. Speakers included executives from Fornetix, Venafi, and IBM Security.

The offering generating the most attention, though, was the nCipher graffiti artist water bottle giveaway. Attendees queued up to have their free water bottles branded to their liking by a group of talented artists operating out of the booth.

On Tuesday, nCipher CSO Pali Surdhar posted ‘Yolanda be cool!’, an Q&A response to the research paper presented by security researchers Gabriel Campana and Jean-Baptiste Bédrune. The original research explored an HSM vulnerability found within a competitor’s device. While the issues have since been remediated, the FAQ proactively answers additional general questions about HSM security.

On Wednesday, nCipher and Entrust Datacard hosted a happy hour event at Auereole in the Mandalay Bay. Partners, customers, analysts, and friends enjoyed sliders, crab samosas, and martinis while catching up about work and play.
