Innovation and Emerging Technology at the 2019 RSA Conference

The 2019 RSA Conference must be getting close—in a few days, the 10-day weather forecast will be able to let you know whether to bring an umbrella and/or jacket for the event. Hopefully, you have already given some thought to the RSA sessions you want to see and put some effort into planning out your RSA schedule for the week. There are a few other things you might consider, though, if you still have some time on your calendar.

Most of the RSA Conference revolves around industry luminaries sharing a vision of the future of cybersecurity through keynotes, education, and information shared by cybersecurity experts in the sessions, and established companies demonstrating products and speaking with conference attendees about their products and services at booths on the Expo Hall floor. There are also peripheral events going on at the same time as DevOps Connect and BSides San Francisco. In addition, the RSA Conference provides a platform for companies to show off new concepts and technologies.

Innovation Sandbox

One of the coolest things at the RSA Conference each year is the Innovation Sandbox. 10 companies are selected as finalists to participate in the Innovation Sandbox event. Each company gets to make a three-minute pitch while demonstrating their security technologies to a panel of five judges in front of an audience comprised of industry experts, venture capitalists, thought leaders, and the RSA Conference attendees. The 10 companies selected to participate in the Innovation Sandbox this year are Arkose Labs, Axonius, Capsule8, Cloudknox, Disrupt:Ops, Duality Technologies, Eclypsium, Salt, ShiftLeft and Wirewheel. The event will take place on Monday, March 4, at 1:30pm in the Yerba Buena Ballroom at the Marriott Marquis.

Early Stage Expo

Another way to get a glimpse at some of the emerging technologies is to check out the Early Stage Expo. The Early Stage Expo is also at the Marriott Marquis. It begins with a reception at 4:45pm on Tuesday, March 5, and will also be open 8am to 4pm on Wednesday, and 8am to 3pm on Thursday. Fifty-four startups will present demonstrations and share their cutting-edge concepts and innovative approaches to solving cybersecurity problems.

RSAC Sandbox

Would you like to get some hands-on experience with some of the technologies? You need to visit the RSAC Sandbox. It takes place in Yerba Buena 8 and 9 at the Marriott Marquis. Like the Early Stage Expo, there is a kickoff reception Tuesday, March 5 that starts at 4pm. The RSAC Sandbox will also be available Wednesday 8am to 4pm, and Thursday 8am to 3:30pm. The RSAC Sandbox is full of hands-on interactive experiences that allow you to test your cybersecurity skills.
