Promoting Business Enablement Through Cloud Security at AWS re:Invent 2018

Organizations around the world continue to adopt cloud-first strategies, moving some, if not all of their major workflows into the cloud. Whether using a public, hybrid, or increasingly popular multi-cloud approach, organizations are developing plans to evolve their networks, policies, and business strategies to be more accommodating to cloud-based infrastructure.

Amazon’s annual AWS re:Invent conference aims to facilitate this evolution by providing attendees with hands-on learning opportunities, technical content and sessions, and access to AWS experts like Fortinet to ensure users are getting the most out of their AWS cloud deployments.

About AWS re:Invent 2018

This year’s re:Invent conference will take place from November 26th – 29th at the Venetian / Sands Expo Center in Las Vegas. The event is expected to bring together more than 26,000 AWS users, software vendors, and AWS managed service providers from across different industries and sizes of organizations. Among the top industries to be represented are software and internet services, financial services, government agencies, and educational institutions. While a large majority of attending organizations are enterprises, we’ll also see SMBs, startups, and government institutions also present.

Attendees will have the opportunity to build their own curriculum, choosing from over a thousand sessions and workshops. These sessions will cover topics from analytics and big data, to security and compliance, and to machine learning and more. Additionally, breakout sessions will be offered at different levels, beginning with introductory content, through advanced content, and up to the expert level for those who have a deep understanding of the covered topic or technology.

Fortinet at AWS re:Invent 2018

Fortinet is proud to be contributing to AWS re:Invent 2018 as a Gold-level sponsor. Fortinet will be present at the conference to meet and collaborate with AWS users and partners, helping ensure their cloud deployments, and the data stored within them, remain secure and compliant in accordance with regulatory standards and the shared security model.

Attendees can meet with the Fortinet team in the exhibitor’s hall at booth #1538. Here, you can learn about the various methods you can use to secure your AWS and multi-cloud environments.

Fortinet will be focused on examining the tools and features that cloud users should implement to secure their AWS cloud. This understanding is crucial, especially as the threat landscape evolves and cybercriminals shift their focus toward leveraging the cloud as an entryway into target networks. Because of these changes in the threat landscape, organizations must protect their AWS deployments using a multi-layered, integrated security fabric strategy.

Fortinet will also be discussing how AWS users can minimize complexity and develop consistent security policies that enable simplified management, visibility, and DevOps automation across and between different networking environments, including AWS.

Is Cloud Security a Zero-Sum Game?

Fortinet will also be hosting a speaking session on cloud security entitled, Is Cloud Security a Zero-Sum Game? This session will take place on Wednesday, November 28th at 4:10pm in the Kumo Theater.

Fortinet’s Lior Cohen, Senior Director of Products and Solutions for Cloud Security, will discuss how organizations can move beyond viewing cybersecurity as a business inhibitor and leverage it as an actual enabler. Cohen will address how AWS users can create effective security policies that enable business by establishing and maintaining secure public cloud use.

This discussion will specifically examine how organizations can use automation to enhance cloud security without stalling application innovation or performance. Attendees will then learn how Fortinet’s Security Fabric can work with the native security functionality provided by AWS including security groups, asset labels, and guard duty to protect workloads from the inside out, regardless of their origination, workflow path, or destination.
