Avast Security Ambassador and Chess Grandmaster Garry Kasparov will be making the first splash into next month’s thought leadership pool at IFA+ Summit in Berlin. Garry is kicking off the “Intelligence” cluster of presentations with an opening speech titled “Timeless Values in the Digital World — Where AI Decisions Meet Human Responsibility.” The conference, a gathering of the greatest cybersecurity minds focused on “Next Level of Thinking,” will occur September 2 & 3.
Since Garry’s legendary chess matches against IBM’s Deep Blue supercomputer in the 1990’s, he has been deeply engaged with AI, human-machine interaction, and human rights issues. In his opening speech on “Intelligence,” he will discuss the complex landscape of human ethics and values in an increasingly technological world. How do we maintain fairness, humanity, and responsibility while also leaning more heavily on artificial intelligence? Garry will share his views on these challenges and suggest what can be done by users, regulators, and the industry to ensure that ethical standards and privacy protections are a part of AI technology.
After the speech, Garry and other industry leaders, including Avast EVP & CTO Ondrej Vlcek, will take part in a panel discussion called “Fears of Redundancy — The Relationship Between Biological and Non-Biological Intelligence.”
Then Avast hosts a workshop where attendees can watch in real time as a smart home is hacked. The event is called “Home Sweet Home? Chronicle of a Smart Home Attack Foretold by Garry Kasparov.” Avast security researcher Vladislav Iliushin will demonstrate different ways an attacker can hack a smart home as Garry, with a long history of troubles with machines, narrates the scenario. The workshop will be followed by a Q&A session with the audience.
Finally, after an enriching day of talking, learning, and hacking, attendees can kick back and watch the chess master work his magic as Garry takes on eight opponents at once. You haven’t seen real chess playing until you’ve seen Garry in action.
