Security Blogger Awards 2018 Voting Is Open

security blogger awardsI am happy to report that voting for the 2018 Social Security Blogger Awards is open. This is, I think, the 10th year of the blogger awards, which is kind of difficult for me to wrap my head around. As usual, the winners will be announced at the Security Bloggers Meetup @ RSAC. The awards have always been by bloggers, for bloggers, and is meant to recognize the very best of the many people who cover our industry.

If you are not familiar, the Bloggers Meetup @ RSAC and then the Security Blogger Awards started about 13 or 14 years ago. Many of us blogging about security had interacted over the inter-webs but never actually met in real life. Many of us were at the RSA Conference (RSAC), so we decided to get together for beers and talk security blogging. I don’t remember everyone at that first meetup, but I do remember Rich Mogul, Mike Rothman, Martin McKeay and Michael Farnum were present. We found that we really enjoyed talking shop and spending some time catching up in person. It was much better than online (maybe there is a lesson there?). Even more importantly, we found companies were willing to sponsor our meetups and pay for beer!

You don’t have to be present at the bloggers meetup to vote, but voting for the Security Blogger Awards is really for people who write, podcast or cover the security space. If you are one of those people, not only can you cast your vote in the Blogger Awards, but you also can get an invite to the Bloggers Meetup—just drop me a line at [email protected].

This year’s finalists for each category are listed below. Note that these are the finalists nominated by our judges—you are free to write in your choice of any blog or podcast for any of the categories.
