How to Address Ongoing GDPR Requirements

GDPR is one of the biggest transformations to global data privacy law within the past 20 years. Businesses and organizations are quickly preparing for the requirements which will soon be enacted on May 25, 2018.

GDPR is not just about data. It’s about the rights of EU data subjects. Individuals now have specific rights to their data under the GDPR. This is the main differentiator between the GDPR and the previous Data Protection Directive.

Under the GDPR, EU citizens now have a right to be informed, a right of access, right of rectification, right to erasure, right to restrict processing, right of data portability, right of objection, and rights to automated decision making and profiling.

Mechanisms need to be in place to protect the rights of individuals and adhere to the GDPR requirements by May 25. And, organizations must deploy the appropriate security and governance measures to support the rights of individuals under the GDPR.
