The Summer Immersion Program for Girls Who Code at Akamai wrapped up this past week. The girls finished their final projects and presented them at a graduation ceremony attended by friends and family as well as supporters and mentors from Akamai.
The girls were divided into five teams for their final projects. Each project’s goal was to solve a problem in the community. Teams created websites and back ends to support the user experience. The girls’ projects focused on helping people to find hiking and cycling trails in the metro Boston area; to find activities they can do for no cost; to track their moods over time; to de-stress and take a wellness break; and to find famous women by geo-location.
The mentors and supporters were thrilled to see the girls’ great work on display at demos after the graduation ceremony. The girls are headed for great things in the future, and we all wish them well with their next adventures!
